Ticking at the Abyss:Richard Mille’s RM 032 Ultimate Edition

Richard Mille has unveiled the final chapter of its iconic dive watch collection, introducing the RM 032 Automatic Flyback Chronograph Ultimate Edition. Limited to just 80 pieces, this robust and intricately engineered timepiece is a nod to both the extreme technical demands of deep-sea exploration and the brand’s uncompromising pursuit of precision and style.

For over a decade, the RM 032 series has been a trusted companion in underwater ventures, notably on the wrist of celebrated French free diver Arnaud Jerald. A holder of eight world records, Jerald has pushed human limits in the depths of the ocean, a setting where function and reliability are not optional but essential. The RM 032 Ultimate Edition rises to this challenge, delivering impeccable performance beneath the waves with a water resistance of up to 300 metres.

At the heart of this dive-ready masterpiece lies the calibre RMAC2, equipped with a flyback chronograph, annual calendar, and a running indicator—features designed with readability and precision in mind. The oversized date sits prominently at 12 o’clock, flanked by the month display between 4 and 5 o’clock. Under duress, divers can verify the watch’s operation thanks to a rotating Super-LumiNova®-equipped indicator at 3 o’clock.

Technically exceptional, the case combines grade 5 titanium and Carbon TPT®—a duo of materials chosen for their lightweight yet unyielding strength. Measuring 50 mm in diameter and 17.8 mm thick, the design balances rugged durability with a surprisingly ergonomic fit. Security is reinforced through Richard Mille’s patented locking crown, a critical innovation that prevents accidental water ingress by immobilising the pushers when rotated to the red indicator setting.

Visually, the RM 032 Ultimate Edition exudes sophistication with its contrasting textures: a satin-finished titanium fixed bezel meets Carbon TPT® inserts, while the microblasted DLC titanium rotating bezel ensures seamless alignment.

This final instalment in the RM 032 collection is more than a performance tool; it’s a piece of horological craftsmanship tailored for those who live with adventure on their agenda. As Arnaud Jerald continues to conquer the ocean’s deepest realms, the RM 032 Ultimate Edition is a fitting tribute to life beneath the surface, where every second counts.
