SKY’S THE LIMIT – MASERATI GRAN CABRIO MC

The Maserati GranCabrio is one of the most beautiful and luxurious convertibles currently in production: elegant, but exceptionally sporty as well thanks to its remarkable performance. Its elegant lines recall the sexy A6G Spyder from 1950, a car fitted with a racing engine and progenitor of the dynasty of convertibles bearing the Maserati badge.

More than a hundred years of the brand’s history reflect in this sporty four-seater convertible with its classic silhouette, a veritable masterpiece of design signed Pininfarina. It’s the perfect car as much for your daily movements as for long journeys, with all the pleasure of the most intense sports handling.

Its long snout, muscular rear end and clean lines make it look like it’s leaping forward even when it’s standing still. The front end on the Maserati GranCabrio, designed to improve aerodynamics and front brake ventilation, is dominated by the traditional oval grille with its concave vertical bars, which again recalls famous models of the past like the A6 GCS from 1953.

EXTERIOR

The MC is longer than the GranCabrio and GranCabrio Sport, with a pronounced front end inspired on the GranTurismo MC Stradale, an extremely sporty, aggressive looking car that owes its great success precisely to the way it adapts its racy characteristics to use on the road.

The new bonnet with two hefty intakes, offered as an optional in carbon fibre, enhance stability at high speed without sacrificing drag coefficient, and the two generous vents optimise cooling from the potent 4.7 litre V8 engine.

The front fenders mount state-of-the-art bi-xenon headlights with built-in washer system and LED daylights. The xenon cluster in the headlight is fitted with an Adaptive Light Control system that follows the steering up to 15 degrees.

The rear lights cluster is exceptionally good-looking and extremely hi-tech: triangular in shape with 96 LED lights that harmonise perfectly with the two huge oval exhaust terminals designed to underscore the power of the engine.

The rear end has been completely redesigned to make the model even sportier: the exhaust terminals have been shifted to a more central position and the particular layout of the crossover ducts integrated into the bottom enhance the overall aerodynamics by stabilising the air flow exiting the underbody.

Maserati’s engineers have managed to blend sports performance, dynamism, maximum aerodynamics, elegance and style, in the perfect combination of form and function.

With a profile designed to optimise aerodynamic performance, the drag coefficient at a speed of 140 Kph has been reduced by 10% to the front and 25% to the rear compared to the GranCabrio Sport.

The GranCabrio MC’s dynamic handling is assured by 20” alloy wheels (MC Design), offered in shiny titanium or matt Graphite, with the Trident ably integrated into the double spokes, identifying the car as the performance model par excellence of the Maserati GranCabrio range.

INTERIOR

With its sumptuous hand-made upholstery the interior blends perfectly with the elegant lines of the body.

The dashboard has the “V” shape characteristic of Maserati design while the fine chrome rings around the buttons and the Trident logo embossed into the headrests bear witness to maniacal attention to detail.

The front seatbelt mountings are flush with the waistline for added comfort, while the stitching on the seats evoke the lines of the grille, emphasising the stylish ambition of the GranCabrio range.

The front seats are even fitted with the Easy Entry system that moves the seat fully forward for easier access to the rear seats.  Absolutely nothing disturbs the fluidity of the driving experience. The Bose Surround Sound® system’s 12 speakers offer a quality of reproduction comparable to that of some of the world’s best concert halls.

The sports seats are fruit of the best in Italian craftsmanship with maniacal care given to ergonomic aspects, to offer optimal comfort both for sporty driving and long journeys. All the seats have headrests embellished with a precious insert in the upper central part, in the shape of the radiator grille.

HOOD

The hood is made up of a triple-layer insulated fabric coupled with a steel and aluminium frame that assures perfect silence without any hissing or wind.

Naturally, to open and close it takes just the push of a button: travelling at less than 30 Kph the operation takes around 24 seconds.

The hood is available in six different shades for the exterior and three for the interior.

ENGINE

The potent V8 engine is hand-assembled at the Ferrari’s Maranello plant and guarantees lightning-like acceleration.

GranCabrio MC is the ideal vehicle for anyone looking for an adrenaline rush with the wind in their hair: its 4.7 litre V8 unleashes 460 HP and can catapult the car from 0 to 100 Kph in a mere 4.9 seconds.

The ample personalisation possibilities offered by Maserati make each one a unique example, perfectly suited to the customer’s taste.
