CHATEAU LE CAGNARD – SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL!

The Chateau Le Cagnard, which means β€œthe sun of Provence”, may not be the largest hotel in the world but it is definitely one of the most magical places you’ll ever visit.

Dating back to the 13th century, Le Cagnard is steeped in history and will transport you back in time. Located in the picturesque hilltop village of the Hauts de Cagnes, the hotel and restaurant offer stunning views and excellent service.

The 30 rooms and suites have all been named after artists associated with the Hauts de Cagnes. As well as offering the highest standards of comfort and modernity, they are full of charm and character thanks to the original frescoes and period furniture, providing an authentic atmosphere in a refined ProvenΓ§al style.Β  As you walk through the hallways, if you look closely, you’ll discover the tiny hidden hand-painted details.

The bistronomic restaurant, which is open every evening, is equally delightful. It has received two fork & spoons as well as a plate from the Michelin guide. Chef Francesco Carlucci serves simple and refined seasonal dishes alongside a selection of the best ProvenΓ§al wines. The atmosphere is convivial and laid back, and in summer diners can enjoy the CΓ΄te d’Azur weather as the ceiling slides back to offer an al fresco experience. There is no better way to enjoy the sun and breath-taking views of the Riviera.

Le Cagnard, part of the Phoenix Hotels Collection, is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, a brand that once again proves that the best things often come in small packages!

DISCOVER A DIFFERENT KIND OF PETANQUE, AT CHATEAU LE CAGNARD

In August, in the streets of the village of the Hauts de Cagnes, the square boules world championship takes place. You may have heard of PΓ©tanque, but when you’re playing in steep streets (10 to 18% gradient) it’s not simple. The β€œBoules” and β€œBouchin” are made of pine wood and are SQUARE. At ChΓ’teau le Cagnard, we’ll lend you the equipment and you can organise your own teams. It’s a great way to enjoy your aperitif whilst training to compete in this unusual and world-renowned championship. A game of boules carrΓ©es is a great way to end the afternoon before heading to the ChΓ’teau Le Cagnard for dinner. You’ll be eating under the stars, thanks to the restaurant’s opening roof, whilst enjoying the stunning sea view and our Chef’s delicious dishes. There’s no point trying to square the circle, just sit back and relax at Le Cagnard!
